Ringing in the New Year is always fun. But the Germans definitely take the event to a new level.
In the neighborhoods, it can feel just like a war zone, with hundreds of fireworks going off on the ground and in the sky, sometimes lasting an hour. At least, that’s how our neighborhood has been the last couple of years.
This year, Goddess and I decided to check out a different city, so we made the short trip down to Freiburg, not far from both France and Switzerland. We’d heard that at midnight they play a waltz and the entire square starts dancing. Turns out that there wasn’t that much dancing, but Goddess and I, as well as many other couples, gave it a go.
Then stopped to watch the fireworks, the merriment and the merry-makers.
I sure like this one. Quite a lot of activity in all corners of the image.
