Backlit Oak

After a midday of looking at Crater Lake, we worked our way south through the Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge to head back to our hotel.

A wonderfully winding road, full of punchy climbs and descents, full of cautions to look for cyclists on the road.

My kind of place.

Rounding a bend and glancing across the valley.

Which results in the quick rearrangement of all baggage in the car.

Luckily Goddess is very patient with me.  And there wasn’t any traffic on the road with us at the time.

The quick stop resulted in my most anticipated photos of the trip.

Backlit Oak

The combination of setting sun, hills, and swirling clouds made for a very fun scene.

And the sun was off that oak just a few minutes later.

So it was all about timing.

And luck.
